SQL server in this release made and improved features that are extremely important to continue having a better experience, security and flexibility using it. This release is community technology preview (CTP) 2.0. CTP 2.0 is the first public preview release. Previous releases (CTP 1.x) were available to select participants in the early adopter program (EAP).
This release:
Is available as Evaluation Edition. It's available for a 180 day trial period, and includes all of the capabilities of Enterprise Edition.
On Azure Virtual Machines, it's available as Developer Edition. It's available for a 180 day trial period via a SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines marketplace image.
For SQL Server 2022 Preview on Linux, see Release notes for SQL Server 2022 (16.x) Preview on Linux.
Doesn't include support from Microsoft, except for select EAP customers.
Before, the features were improving and adapting in much cases from users experiences and feed backs. Always is good to hear what the customers/user are looking and what is the better for us.
